“Accelerate your journey to quantum today”, the quantum technology showcase organized by Quside
The event addressed the main trends and challenges in the transition to quantum resistant cryptography and hardware acceleration of complex computations.
During the event Quside presented its new brand, the new products for quantum random number generation (QRNG) and the availability of its Randomness Processing Unit (RPU) on Amazon Web Services was announced.
The event for partners hosted more than 40 companies and 15 speakers of leading companies in the industry including: EY, Telefónica, Juniper, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Qrypt or LuxQuanta
Barcelona, 5th of May 2023-. Quside, the spin-off of the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) that offers advances randomness solutions for the cybersecurity and high-performance computing markets, held today at the Talent Garden Barcelona its Quside Showcase Day under the slogan “Accelerate your journey to quantum today”. This is the first event for partners and customers organized by the company to present the new characteristics of its products and other news at the company level. During the event, Quside announced important news about its randomness processing unit (RPU), which will be available to the cloud in the coming weeks.

In the words of Carlos Abellan, co-founder and CEO of Quside: “we are very pleased to have been able to hold and event like this and bring together leading companies in the market. Having their participation and their support has made this experience and our work much more incredibly rewarding”. Abellan added that “quantum technology is demonstrating its high impact in different sectors, so we have enhanced the characteristics of our products RPU and QRNG in order to continue competing at the highest level in this cutting-edge industry”.
Carlos Abellán has been in charge of opening the Quside Showcase Day with an analysis of the present and future of the industry. He analysed the current challenges in the market, including the increasing number of the number of connected devices and bandwidth, the threat posed by quantum computers, and then commented how industry is adapting to address all these changes
More than 40 companies, 15 speakers and expert voices from renowned companies in multiple sectors including: EY, Telefónica, Juniper, Tecnobit, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Qrypt, Qu-aid or LuxQuant attended the Quside Showcase Day, which sought to highlight the role of quantum technologies in different industries and share their success stories.
In the different panels, the speakers discussed how companies are adapting to the challenges posed by the transition to a cryptography more resistant to quantum attacks and how to integrate new solutions, explored the role of quantum technologies in the industry, including various success stories of Quside customers.
The panel “Enterprise adoption of quantum technologies“, with the participation of Kevin Chalker, CEO at Qrypt and Ulises Arranz, quantum computing consultant at Ernst & Young, discussed which countries are more advanced in quantum technologies and analyzed the regulation of the industry, as well as the markets that are adapting better and the added value in the field of cybersecurity and process automation.
Kevin Chalker, CEO of Qrypt explained that “The quantum transition has accelerated significantly since last year, especially after the National Security Memorandum approved by Joe Biden’s administration, which requires all government agencies to publish their roadmap on quantum resistant cryptography to be implemented in the short term”. Chalker added “the market is waking up and starting to become aware of the positive impact of quantum technology, especially in government agencies and also in regulated industries, financial services, telecommunications, life sciences or oil, water, power and gas related infrastructures.”
More computation and performance in less space
During Quside Showcase Day, new features of Quside’s products were unveiled, including a speed increase in the QRNG product range, reaching a rate of 1 gigabit per second, the availability of the RPU on Amazon Web Services, thus facilitating adoption in the corporate sector, and the presentation of a new chip for low power consumption and high scalability applications, of which the company will release more details during 2023.
